The School was established as a charitable foundation with the charitable objective to: ‘promote and provide for the advancement of education’. Our School fees cover the cost of our academic and pastoral services, our fundraising covers costs associated with enhancing, expanding and developing our facilities.
Downe House is not a school that is rich with endowments. The School receives no public funding in support of its activities, but contributes to the community by educating pupils for whom provision would otherwise have to be made by the state. Downe House is a significant local employer and tries, wherever possible, to source goods and services locally.
The Foundation Office exists to link past and present members of the Downe House community through effective communication, a varied programme of events, the acknowledgement of achievements, collaborative planning and active fundraising.
We aim to keep the spirit and ethos of the school at the heart of all that we do.
By promoting an atmosphere where all community members benefit from initiatives which are designed to be informative, enjoyable, valuable and inspirational - we embrace the principles of our founder, Olive Willis.
"A Downe House education is an opportunity to let you seize life with every advantage and backing. It makes you fiercely proud to be a woman with the passion to succeed in everything you do." Downe House alumna 2012
The Downe House Foundation is a Registered Charity, Registered Charity No 1159259, Registered in England.
