Community Council For Berkshire

Registered Charity Number 1056367

We are an independent charity with over 40 years’ experience in community development work. We help people who live and work in Berkshire to make things better for themselves and for their community. We work with them to develop, implement and deliver projects and services which help people overcome challenges, improve their quality of life and strengthen their community.

Our projects have a positive and long lasting effect on people. Our work with communities today includes providing support and advice with Neighbourhood Development Planning: a community-led planning framework for guiding future development, regeneration and conservation of an area. We also provide a wide range of community-focused informal adult learning opportunities, including funding workshops, project management, recruiting volunteers, managing Community Buildings and successfully using social media tools.

We provide a tailored advice and guidance service to volunteers that run Community Buildings. We provide expert, independent advice on affordable rural housing solutions – ensuring that those who have grown up, work, or have strong ties to a neighbourhood have homes built that are affordable. We also offer a service for member Town and Parish Councils that ensures they are well managed and comply with all relevant legislation.

Recently we have delivered a number of projects with a focus on keeping people warm and healthy in their homes. These projects have included the launch of an Oil Buying group to reduce costs for those that heat their homes with oil and a service that provides advice to vulnerable families at risk of fuel poverty on how to reduce energy bills.
