Kilmartin Museum Trust's charitable objectives:

The Trustees shall hold the Trust Fund and the Existing Collection in Trust for the following charitable objects: a) the promotion and advancement of the education of the general public by establishing and preserving a museum and centre for landscape interpretation to be known as the Kilmartin House Trust (hereinafter referred to as the Museum) providing and exhibiting educational material and information on the archaeology, ecology and environmental history of the Kilmartin Glen. Argyll and surrounding area, including an interpretive study of the findings from all relevant research carried out in these related scientific fields, such Museum to comprise the Existing Collection together with such other objects, specimens and materials, books, photographs and documents or collections associated or compatible with the Existing Collection, as may from time to time be acquired by the Trustees in accordance with the provisions of this Deed (the Existing Collection together with such other items or specimens so acquired being hereinafter referred to as ‘the Collection’), in respect of which there will be a strong presumption against the subsequent disposal of an item or specimen; b) for the public benefit, the preservation, documentation and interpretation of the items or specimens comprised in the Collection, and the provision for the protection of such items or specimens from deterioration, damage, loss, accidental destruction or unauthorised disposal, including providing and maintaining suitable accommodation for housing the Collection.
