Sight Concern Bedfordshire

Registered Charity Number 1117209

Sight Concern Bedfordshire is your local service dedicated to enhancing the independence and quality of life of blind and partially sighted people living in Bedfordshire and Luton of whom there are some 12,000 people.

Most of those living with sight loss are elderly. Without support, many can lose their confidence and ability to continue with everyday activities and may fear falls and leaving their home, thereby increasing the isolation already felt as many struggle to continue reading printed matter. Yet sight loss does not affect the elderly alone and Sight Concern Bedfordshire is also working increasingly to support the engagement and independence of children and those of working age and their families. We know that sight loss can have a profound effect; not just on each individual but also on their families.

Sight Concern Bedfordshire provides information, advice and support to all those affected through the provision of over twenty different services for local people; from social clubs, home visiting, regular contact calls to the isolated and lonely, training in IT skills, assisting with benefit and other entitlements, providing aids and equipment, supporting to maximise remaining sight, talking newspapers, regular quarterly newsletter and MUCH MORE.

Your too can support blind and visually impaired people in many ways; by donating your time to volunteer with us, by donating money to support our endeavours, by signing up for our visual awareness training and by spreading the word about the work that we do.

Thank you.
