Kilimanjaro Climb

Fri 5th August to Wed 17th August 2016

Outwardly happy, successful and fulfilled, Cameron Grant took his own life, aged 21, after a lonely, 7-year battle with Depression. In his memory, Team Cam climbed Kilimanjaro to raise awareness about the risk of young suicide and the importance of good mental heath for all. We walked the Machame Route starting on Monday 8 August and reached Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895m (19,341 ft), around 8:30am on Saturday 13 August.

Team Cam for Kili is: Alastair, Tamara, Helen & Kirsty Ferguson, Frances George, Duncan Allen, Andy & Clare Porter, Phil & Mary Hay-Jahans and Liz, Evan, Carol & Alastair Grant. Cameron's Memorial is used to raise awareness of young suicide, to urge all who are suffering in silence to speak up and ask for help, and to support young people who are fighting to overcome poor mental health, especially where this can be done through outdoor activities like hill-walking and The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award which Cameron enjoyed so much.
